500 Rupee Note Holder: RBI alert on 500 rupee note! 2 types of notes of 500 rupees circulating in the market, check immediately

500 Rupee Note Holder Alert: In the new series with the picture of Mahatma Gandhi, the bank notes of the denomination of Rs 500 bear the signature of the RBI Governor. On the reverse side of the note, ‘Red Fort’ is made, which reflects the cultural heritage of the country.

The base color of the note is Stone Grey. The note has other designs and geometric patterns that align with the overall color scheme, both on the front and back.

500 Rupee Note Holder Alert:  If you also come to know from social media or any other source that you should not take that note of 500 rupees in which the green stripe is not near the signature of the RBI governor but near the picture of Gandhiji.

This claim is fake, it should not be believed. PIB Fact Check, the fact-checking unit of the Press Information Bureau, has cautioned people against fake news about Rs 500 note circulating on social media recently.

PIB did a fact check on this

RBI has clearly said that both types of notes are valid.

The Rs 500 denomination banknotes in the new series featuring the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi bear the signature of the RBI governor. On the reverse side of the note, ‘Red Fort’ is made, which reflects the cultural heritage of the country. The base color of the note is Stone Grey. The note has other designs and geometric patterns that align with the overall color scheme, both on the front and back.

At the same time, RBI has denied the news of Rs 500 notes disappearing from the market. RBI had said through a press release that the news of Rs 88,032.5 crore missing from its system is incorrect. The central bank said that the information given under RTI regarding Rs 500 notes from three printing presses in the country was misinterpreted.

In its press release and post on Twitter, the Reserve Bank of India had said that it has come to the notice of the RBI that several media reports regarding the disappearance of Rs 500 notes from the system are incorrect.

The information received from the printing press was misunderstood and it is important to know that whatever notes are printed in the printing press, they are completely safe. The production, storage and distribution of these banknotes are monitored by the RBI with complete protocols and a robust system in place.
