7th pay commission latest news: Central employees are waiting for the increase in dearness allowance i.e. DA for the first half of the year. It is believed that the government will announce DA increase in the month of March. Meanwhile, once again the discussion of giving arrears of 18 months in the era of Covid has intensified.
Arrears since when
Actually, dearness allowance of central employees was stopped during Corona. The central government had not paid allowances for 18 months from January 2020 to June 2021. At the same time, when everything started becoming normal, no concrete indication was given by the government about clearing this arrears.
the discussion intensified again
Now Mukesh Singh, General Secretary of Bharatiya Immunity Mazdoor Sangh, has written a letter to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman regarding this 18-month arrears. It has been said in the letter that we fully understand the challenges and economic problems caused by Corona. However, now the country is recovering from the impact of the pandemic and the financial situation is also improving.
Mukesh Singh further said that contributions were made by government employees and retired personnel during the challenging times of the pandemic. The unwavering dedication and hard work of the central employees was instrumental in ensuring smooth functioning of essential services, supporting the Corona fight.
Mukesh Singh demands that keeping all this in mind, the arrears of 18 months should be released in the upcoming budget session. Mukesh Singh said- I understand that the government has allocated money to deal with the economic impact of the Covid pandemic. I believe that the release of DA arrears will provide relief to government employees and retirees.
4 percent increase expected
Let us tell you that the Central Government usually revises the dearness allowance twice a year – in January and July. The allowance for central government employees is 46%, which was earlier 42%. Now once again a 4 or 5 percent increase is expected. This increase will benefit approximately 48.67 lakh central government employees and 67.95 lakh pensioners.
