However, it has not been announced yet. But, it will be implemented from 1 July. The figures of the AICPI index that came recently have made it clear that there will be an increase of 4 percent in the dearness allowance of the employees.
This is how DA is calculated
DA is calculated on Basic Salary. If someone’s salary is Rs 20,000, then at the rate of 4 per cent his salary will increase by Rs 800 in a month.
How much will the salary increase, understand the calculation

Basic Salary (BasicPay) – Rs 31550
- New Dearness Allowance (DA) – 46% – Rs 14513/month
- Current Dearness Allowance (DA) – 42% – Rs 13251/month
- 4% Dearness Allowance (DA) increase – Rs 1262 (per month) will come more
- Annual Dearness Allowance – Rs 15144 more will be given on 4% increase
- Total annual dearness allowance – will be Rs 1,74,156 (at 46 per cent)
When can DA be announced
Dearness Allowance for July 2023 has been confirmed. But, there is still time to announce it. Sources reveal that it can be announced in the month of September. Usually, dearness allowance is approved by the cabinet in September itself. After this the Finance Ministry notifies it and after that it is paid to the central government employees. The difference of this increased dearness allowance, which remains for two months, is given to the central employees in the form of arrears.
