The Election Commission has announced the dates of Lok Sabha elections on Saturday. Elections are starting from April 19 and voting will be held in seven phases till June 1. Before this, three states have increased the Dearness Allowance for government employees. After Andhra Pradesh and Haryana, now Chhattisgarh government has increased the dearness allowance for its employees and pensioners.

Haryana government has increased dearness allowance by 4 percent under the 7th Pay Commission. After this increase, DA and DR of government employees and pensioners has increased from 46 percent to 50 percent. This increase will be effective from January 1, 2024. Government employees will start getting increased DA and DR from March. Besides, the outstanding money will also be sent to the employees’ accounts.

Chhattisgarh government increased DA by 4 percent

Chhattisgarh government has increased the dearness allowance of state employees by 4 percent. This increase was announced just before the announcement of the date of Lok Sabha elections. This decision of the state government will benefit 3.90 lakh employees and 1.20 lakh pensioners. The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh said that this increase will be effective from March 1.

Rs 816 crore will be spent

After this increase of Chhattisgarh government, dearness allowance of government employees will increase to 46 percent under the 7th Pay Commission. Under the 6th Pay Commission, dearness allowance will increase to 230 percent. Officials said this increase will cause an additional expenditure of Rs 816 crore annually to the exchequer.

Central government had increased DA

Let us tell you that in the last few days, the state governments including the Center have increased the dearness allowance for government employees and pensioners by 4 percent. The central government had increased the dearness allowance of employees by 4 percent to 50 percent. Besides, DR for pensioners was also increased by 4 percent. This will benefit one crore employees and pensioners. This increase is effective from January 1.
