Dearness Allowance

Dearness allowance is an important benefit for central employees and pensioners, which gives them relief from the brunt of inflation. This allowance is a fixed percentage of the basic salary of the employees, which maintains their purchasing power.

Recently, after the increase of 3% in dearness allowance, the dearness allowance of employees and pensioners has increased from 50% to 53%. This increase will give them some relief from the increasing impact of inflation and will greatly improve their financial condition.

Dearness allowance merged with basic salary

If dearness allowance is merged with the basic salary of the employees, then its widespread effect will be seen. This will bring a permanent change in the total salary of the employees and they will get more salary on the basis of dearness allowance.

Apart from this, this change will also affect the allowances, bonus, pension and others of the employees, because all these things are based on the basic salary. This will increase the total income of the employees significantly, which will make their standard of living even better.

Changes in previous pay commissions

This subject has been discussed earlier as well, when the dearness allowance reached above 50% under the Sixth Pay Commission, then the idea was to add it to the basic salary. In 2004 also, when the dearness allowance reached close to 50%, it was added to the basic salary. However, later many changes were made in the rules and it was separated again.

In such a situation, if this happens in the Seventh Pay Commission (7th Pay Commission New Update) as well, then permanent changes will be seen in the salary of the employees. This will not only increase their salary, but will also have a positive effect on other benefits like allowances, bonus and pension.

Statement of Union Minister

Recently, the Union Minister has expressed his views on this issue. He has said that it is being considered, but no final decision has been taken yet.

It is clear from this that the government is seriously thinking on this issue and is trying to take any decision in the interest of the employees. If dearness allowance is added to the basic salary, it will be a big benefit for the employees.
