What is DA?

In view of the rising inflation, the government gives the gift of DA to the workers. The basic salary of the employee is given by looking at a fixed percentage of it. In DA, along with the basic salary, other amounts like house rent allowance are also added to it, after which the salary is formed. That is why government employees are very attached to the word DA.

When will it be announced and how much will the increase be?

The government can announce it in the second week of September. According to the information, an increase of 3 percent is certain. But there are also possibilities that it can be increased to 4 percent. Talking about March 2024, during this time the government had increased DA by 4 percent. Let us tell you that DA and DR (dearness relief) increase twice a year (January and July).

Will you get the arrears of COVID-19?

During Kovid, dearness allowance was frozen. From 2020 to 2021, the government had stopped DA for about 18 months. For which the employees had also protested a lot. Regarding this, Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary gave a statement in the monsoon session. He said that ‘the government will not release the 18 months’ arrears of DA and dearness relief.’

How much was DA increased last time?

The central government had increased the dearness allowance by 4 percent to 50 percent of the basic salary in March 2024. Apart from this, the government had also increased dearness relief (DR) by 4 percent.
