But, in the new year, there could be the biggest ever increase of 5 percent in dearness allowance.

DA score will be decided by AICPI Index-

Experts believe that according to the current trend, dearness allowance can reach 51 percent. If this happens, there will be a big jump of 5 percent. Dearness allowance is calculated from AICPI index only. Inflation data collected from different sectors in the index shows how much the employees’ allowance should increase in comparison to inflation.

How much dearness allowance has reached now?

If we look at the current situation, AICPI index numbers for July, August and September have been released. The latest figure of the index is at 137.5 points, due to which dearness allowance has reached 48.54 percent. It is estimated that this figure may cross 49.30 percent in October. After this, the data of October, November and December will decide how much DA will increase in January 2024. However, for this we will have to wait for the December 2023 AICPI index numbers.

Strong jump in dearness allowance-
