Sahara India Refund: There is good news for those whose money is stuck in Sahara India. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that till January 28, 2025, a total of Rs 2,025.75 crore has been refunded to 11,61,077 depositors of the cooperative societies of the Sahara Group. Apart from this, those whose money is still stuck can get their money back through a website. Let’s know about it in detail.
What did Amit Shah say in the Lok Sabha?
Union Minister Amit Shah told the Lok Sabha that till January 28, 2025, a total of Rs 2,025.75 crore has been refunded to 11,61,077 depositors of the cooperative societies of the Sahara Group. He told that this payment is being made through a website and the entire process is digital. It is monitored by former Supreme Court judge Justice R. Subhash Reddy is doing it and Amicus Curiae Gaurav Agarwal is assisting him.
Shah said that all the applications are being examined in a transparent manner on the basis of proof of correct identity and the amount deposited. At present, every depositor is being paid a maximum of Rs 50,000 in their Aadhaar-linked bank account. However, according to the information available on the CRCS-Sahara Refund portal, investors can claim up to Rs 5,00,000 lakh back.
What is the new information
According to the information given on the CRCS-Sahara Refund portal, now those investors, whose amount up to Rs 5 lakh is stuck in Sahara India, can apply for their refund. However, the date of application for amounts above Rs 5 lakh will be announced later. This portal has been created to give refund to the depositors of four cooperative societies of Sahara Group as per the Supreme Court’s direction of March 29, 2023. These four cooperative societies of Sahara Group are-
- Our India Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Kolkata
- Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Lucknow
- Saharayan Universal Multipurpose Society Limited, Bhopal
- Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, Hyderabad
These documents are necessary
If an investor is claiming an amount of more than Rs 50,000, then PAN card will be mandatory. Apart from this, these conditions have to be fulfilled to apply.
- Mobile number should be linked to Aadhaar.
- It is mandatory to have a bank account linked to Aadhaar.
- Full details of the amount deposited in all Sahara committees will have to be given.
- How to claim
First go to the RCS-Sahara Refund portal. Register using your Aadhaar linked mobile number. Fill in your deposit details. Upload PAN card (if the amount is more than Rs 50,000) and other required documents. After submitting the application, the amount will be credited to your bank account within 45 days.
