PM Internship Scheme: Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme (PM Internship Scheme) is a special initiative of the Government of India. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has appealed to the country’s top 500 companies to increase their participation in this scheme.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has appealed to the top 500 companies of India to increase their participation in the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme. She said that many companies have not yet joined this program. Finance Minister Sitharaman told these top companies that it is necessary to increase the impact of this scheme and help meet the expectations of the youth to work in industries.
Speaking at the launch of the PM Internship Scheme app, Finance Minister Sitharaman said that this scheme does not put any obligation on the companies nor does it interfere with the management process. The Finance Minister said that more participation of the top 500 companies of India will increase the success of this scheme. Sitharaman said, “We want the top 500 companies to participate in it.”
What is the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme
The Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme (PM Internship Scheme) is an initiative of the Government of India, which aims to provide youth with an opportunity to train in the top 500 companies of the country. This will give the youth practical work experience, which will strengthen their skill development and employment prospects.
These facilities will be available in the scheme
During the internship, each intern will get a stipend of ₹ 5,000 per month. Out of this, ₹ 500 will be deposited by the company and ₹ 4,500 by the government directly into the intern’s bank account. Apart from this, a lump sum amount of ₹ 6,000 will also be provided at the time of joining.
- The applicant must be an Indian citizen, whose age is between 21 to 24 years. The applicant should not be in full-time job or education.
- Educational qualifications include 10th, 12th, ITI Diploma, Polytechnic Diploma or Graduate Degree (such as BA, BSc, BCom, BCA, BBA, B.Pharma).
- Interested candidates can register by visiting the official portal pminternship.mca.gov.in. The last date for application is 31 March 2025.
PM Internship Scheme – which aims to bridge the gap between industry requirements and the job market. So far, 300 companies have participated in the scheme in the pilot phase and 325 in the second phase. According to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), these companies have cumulatively provided 1.18 lakh internship opportunities, while the scheme has received 6 lakh applications since the two pilot projects.
