Jharkhand Chief Engineer Virendra Ram Property: In Jharkhand, one by one new revelations are being made about Chief Engineer Birendra Ram, who is caught in the clutches of ED. You will be surprised to know that this Chief Engineer had kept a CA of his own, who used to manage the money of his scam.
The ED has further tightened its grip on the suspended Chief Engineer of Jharkhand’s Rural Development Department, Birender Ram. The ED has filed a Prosecution Complaint (PC) against him in the PMLA Court in Ranchi on Friday. In this, the sources of his illegal earnings have been mentioned. It has also been told that the share of his illegal earnings was distributed among whom.
The ED has also informed the court about the people managing the government tenders and the modus operandi adopted to hide the illegally earned amount. On February 21-22, the ED raided 24 of his locations simultaneously. During this, Rs 25 lakh cash and jewelry worth more than 1.5 crore were recovered.
He was arrested by the ED after questioning. Since then he is lodged in Birsa Munda Central Jail, Ranchi. After this action of ED, the Jharkhand government had suspended him.
Chief Engineer, CA and Hawala Connection
On April 19, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) attached his assets worth Rs 39.28 crore. Apart from Ranchi, they also have their houses, bungalows and plots located in Delhi, Jamshedpur and other places. The ED has told in its provisional seizure report that Birender Ram used to send huge amount of his commission to Delhi through hawala. According to the report, five crore rupees received in commission reached Delhi through hawala from Jamshedpur.
Birendra Ram’s chartered accountant Mukesh Mittal in Delhi had made complete arrangements to spend Rs. Hawala businessman Ravi Wadhwani had sent five crore rupees from Jamshedpur to Delhi through his associate and after taking the said amount at Chandni Chowk in Delhi, delivered it to Mukesh Mittal.
Chief engineer played in the name of sons too
ED has also found in the investigation that Birendra Ram had resorted to many tricks to hide his black money. For example, he started showing the commission he received in lieu of tender allocation as income of his family and sons. For this, with the help of his chartered accountant, he started filing income tax returns by becoming the Karta of the Hindu Undivided Family and himself.
He did not have to provide any document for this income, so he took support of Section 44 AD of the Income Tax Act. Birendra Ram started showing that his sons started earning from school and college days by teaching computer jobs and tuitions. Much more cash was deposited in their bank accounts than shown in the returns.
