The company informed that the additional charge is being levied on food orders only on the main platform and is not applicable to Instamart users.
The platform fee is a nominal flat fee charged on food orders, a Swiggy spokesperson said in a statement. This fee helps us operate and improve our Platform and enhance App features to provide a seamless App experience.
Received more than 20 lakh orders in a day-
As mentioned in the previous report, Swiggy claimed that it has received more than 1.5-2 million orders during a day. People in Hyderabad ordered 1 million plates of biryani and 4 lakh plates of haleem on leading food-delivery platform Swiggy during the holy month of Ramzan.
In March, the online food delivery platform said it had delivered 33 million plates of idlis in the last 12 months, indicating the immense popularity of the dish among customers. Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai were the top three cities where the maximum number of idlis were ordered. The company has an average of over 2.5 lakh restaurant partners on its platform, and typically onboards around 10,000 restaurants every month.
To create 10,000 jobs this year –
Swiggy and Apna, a leading professional networking platform for gig workers, announced a partnership to create 10,000 jobs for online food delivery platform quick commerce grocery service Instamart this year. According to market research firm Redseer, the quick commerce domain is estimated to reach $5.5 billion by 2025, up from $0.3 billion in 2021. This will increase the demand to appoint more distribution partners.
