The six-lane expressway to be built from Varanasi to Kolkata will be 203 kilometers in Jharkhand’s border. For this, the process of agency selection has been completed. Its construction will take about two and a half years.
Agencies have been selected for the construction of Varanasi-Kolkata via Ranchi Six Lane Expressway in Jharkhand border. About 610 km long, this expressway will be 203 km in the Jharkhand border. This part will be divided into six sections.
Completing the formalities, a target has been set to start the work soon. To keep the pace of construction fast, a dedicated office has also been set up at Ramgarh. With the construction of this expressway, there will be new high speed connectivity between Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. The travel time will also be reduced
considerably. In Jharkhand, the cost of constructing the 203-km portion of this expressway has been estimated at about Rs.8,000 crore. Including utility (electricity wires, water lines etc.) shifting and acquisition and compensation, the total cost will be around 10 thousand crores.
The Kolkata-Varanasi Expressway is being built between Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal via Chandauli in Uttar Pradesh. In Jharkhand, it will pass through Dhanbad, Bokaro, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Chatra. NHAI officials say that the process of land acquisition is going on. The emphasis is on doing it fast.
NHAI regional officer SK Mishra said that a target has been set to complete this expressway in the border of Jharkhand in two to two and a half years. Agencies have been selected for construction in six parts in Jharkhand. The emphasis is on completing the formalities and starting the construction soon.
