Jharkhand News: On the initiative of the Jharkhand government, the farmers of the state will now be able to start paying the insurance amount. The Agriculture Minister of the state has informed that a total of 683922 farmers of Jharkhand state will get its benefit.
Ranchi. There is a relief news for the farmers of Jharkhand. The news is related to crop insurance in 2018-19. After the tireless efforts of the Agriculture Department, now happiness will be seen on the faces of the farmers.
Payment has started for the farmers who had taken insurance for Kharif and Rabi crops. Jharkhand Government’s Agriculture Animal Husbandry and Cooperative Minister Badal Patralekh has given information about this.
The Agriculture Minister said that soon after coming to power, he saw that the state government was giving hundreds of crores to insurance companies, but claim settlements and payments were not being made to the farmers due to various reasons. In view of this, we have decided not to give the amount of our state share.
Along with this, by establishing coordination with the Statistical Department, while taking action to correct and verify the data, it was said to get the report of the actual eligible amount from each company.
The department placed a condition before the insurance company and the central government that until the insurance companies give an affidavit that how much we are going to pay to the farmers, we will not give the amount of state share.
After this decision, a high-level meeting was held on behalf of the central government with joint secretary Ritesh Chauhan and insurance companies under the chairmanship of departmental secretary Abu Bakar Siddiq and me, where finally the insurance companies agreed that we will give an affidavit.
Insurance companies gave in writing that they would pay Rs 810 crore to the farmers of the state. After this, the state government made a provision of funds through the supplementary budget and gave them this amount. The result of which is that from today the amount has started going into the account of the farmers. Total 683922 farmers of the state will get its benefit.
