The possibility was expressed earlier that the Chief Minister may seek time from the ED. It is being said that the Chief Minister sought time from the ED regarding the Dumri by-election and the Independence Day celebrations.
Inquiry was to be held in Ranchi Zonal Office today
It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Hemant Soren was to be questioned today in connection with the Ranchi land scam at the ED’s zonal office in Ranchi. The Enforcement Directorate had registered RC 25/23 case ECIR against the Chief Minister. However, only after the summons was issued, it was expected that the Chief Minister would not go to the ED office on August 14.
The reason for this is the pre-determined programs of the CM. CM Soren will also record his message on Doordarshan for Independence Day. Now the Chief Minister has asked for one week’s time. Here, the ED had made all preparations for the inquiry on Monday. Additional security was sought from the Central Security Force and Ranchi Police. Wrote a letter to the senior security officials.
ED raided on a large scale on April 13
It may be noted that the ED had conducted a survey of Bargai area on February 9 and 15 in connection with the land scam in Ranchi. Apart from this, the office of the Registrar of Assurances of Kolkata was also surveyed. After this, the ED raided the land scam case on 13 and 24 April.
During the raid at Uday Shankar, who was working in the CMO in the land scam, the ED had found many documents. After that raid, the ED recorded the statement of land owners and government officials on different dates. ED summoned Chief Minister Hemant Soren only on the basis of the facts found during the investigation.
Tribal nature land in the name of Soren family
The Enforcement Directorate is probing tribal lands taken in the name of the chief minister and other members of the Soren family. It is said that the agency has identified such tribal lands which have been occupied by the Chief Minister or any member of his family. These lands have not been mentioned in the election affidavit.
