Jharkhand News: 5 children washed away in the strong current of rivers, bodies of 3 recovered, search for 2 continues

Five children were washed away in the strong currents of rivers in two separate incidents in Dhanbad and Hazaribagh districts of Jharkhand on Tuesday. The bodies of three of these children have been recovered, while the search for the other two is ongoing.

The accident happened during the folk festival Karam Puja. 

Both the incidents took place during immersion after the local folk festival Karam Puja of Jharkhand. During the immersion of Karam Puja branch in Jamunia river of Baghmara police station area in Dhanbad, five children entered the river to take bath and went into the deep current.

Two girls died during treatment. 

When all five children started crying, some people noticed them. He was taken out after great difficulty. After this, they were taken to BCCL’s regional hospital, where doctors declared two of them, Saloni Kumari (14 years) and Devraj Kumar (10 years) dead.

The sisters were washed away in the strong current of Madi.

After getting information about the incident, Baghmara MLA Dullu Mahato also reached the spot. The second incident took place in Obra village of Chauparan police station area of ​​Hazaribagh district. Here too early in the morning about 10 girls had gone to Barakar River to immerse the branch of Karam Puja. During this time everyone started flowing in the strong current of the river.

The search for 2 girls continues. 

Seven of them were somehow taken out, but three others were washed away. Later, local divers recovered the body of one of the girls. The search for two others is ongoing. These incidents have created chaos in the area. Hundreds of people have gathered near the river.
