In view of the upcoming elections, the central government can take a big step and can also take many big decisions to provide relief to the public. Now the Central Government can make a big announcement regarding LPG cylinders and free ration which will provide relief to the general public. The Central Government can evaluate the National Food Security Act and subsidy schemes given on LPG.
In this way the government wants to control its expenses and also know which people are getting the benefit of subsidy and who are not. Let us tell you that under these two schemes of the Central Government, there is a burden of about Rs 4 lakh crore on the government treasury every year.
What is the government’s plan?
According to a media report, it has been learned that Development Monitoring and Evaluation of NITI Aayog has invited two proposals from the Central Coordination Agency for evaluation of two schemes. Regarding this proposal, DMEO has said that the government is considering implementing the world’s largest food and nutrition security through NFSA to be enacted in 2023. Despite such huge expenditure by the government, progress related to food security and nutrition is going on slowly in India. Despite this, India’s share in global hunger is up to 30%.
Apart from this, while evaluating LPG subsidy, it has been said that after China and America, India is the largest energy consumer country. Let us tell you that currently the energy consumption in India in the form of kerosene has increased to 12.3% of petroleum products as compared to 1.13% yesterday. But due to the currently ongoing schemes, the use of LPG will increase even more in the country. After this there will be a need to evaluate LPG subsidy.
According to the proposal, the consumption of petroleum and natural gas in India is only one-third of the country’s energy needs. Apart from this, with the increasing population, demand for clean energy and economic development, the demand for oil and gas has been increasing in the last few years.
