The personnel posted in Ranchi jail have also been banned from taking any kind of luggage inside. Even employees have been banned from keeping mobile phones nearby while on duty.
The jail administration has warned the staff that if any employee is found with a mobile phone while on duty, strict action will be taken against them. Following the orders of the jail administration, every employee is being searched while entering the gate. If any kind of item, including house keys, is found during the search, it is not being allowed to enter. The personnel are being allowed to go inside the jail only after keeping the luggage in the car or at some other place.
Thorough search of prisoner’s belongings
The belongings of the prisoners lodged in the jail are also being checked at three places. Blankets, sheets, bags etc. are being given to the prisoner after being thoroughly searched. It is being checked whether there is any objectionable item in the bag. If any objectionable item is kept in the bag, it is immediately removed and thrown away. Let us tell you that earlier the bags and other items given by the relatives of the prisoners were checked at the jail gate itself.
