Weather Update Today: Will the people of Delhi get relief from cold today? Know the weather forecast

Weather Update Today: Cold wave continues across North India. Cold wave left people shivering in Delhi on Sunday morning. Although the fog was not dense. There was a thin layer of fog in the capital, but due to bad weather and fog across the country, some flights have been canceled and some have been rescheduled. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the maximum and minimum temperatures in Delhi to be 18 and nine degrees Celsius respectively on Sunday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the maximum and minimum temperatures in Delhi to be 18 and nine degrees Celsius respectively on Sunday. This means that there is a possibility of slight relief in winter compared to yesterday.

 

Mercury dropped to 8.5 degrees on Saturday.

Earlier on Saturday, the minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 8.5 degrees Celsius, one degree more than normal. IMD said that the maximum temperature of the city was recorded at 17.7 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal. The Meteorological Department had issued an ‘Orange Alert’ of dense fog for the day in Delhi and surrounding areas.

Delhi’s air quality remained in very poor category.

According to railway officials, at least 11 trains coming to Delhi and passing through the national capital were delayed due to fog. According to IMD, relative humidity ranged between 87 to 62 percent. According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the overall air quality index (AQI) at 5 pm was 329, which falls in the ‘very poor’ category.

There was improvement in minimum temperature in Kashmir. 

Minimum temperature improved in most parts of Kashmir on Saturday, which gave some relief to the people from the severe cold. The minimum temperature in Srinagar city was recorded at minus 3.7 degrees Celsius, which is slightly higher than the previous day’s minimum temperature. Yesterday the minimum temperature here was minus 4.9 degrees Celsius.

Kashmir is going through a drought

Kashmir recorded 79 percent less rainfall in December while there was no rainfall in most parts of the valley in the first 20 days of January. The dry and largely snowless winter resulted in nights becoming colder and days warmer than normal. The maximum temperature across Kashmir on Friday was recorded at 4.7 to seven degrees Celsius, which is above the normal temperature of this season. The Meteorological Department said, there is a possibility of light snowfall and rain in the valley next week.

Cold conditions persist in most parts of Punjab and Haryana

on Saturday and the lowest minimum temperature of 4.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Patiala. There was fog at many places in both the neighboring states, while the minimum temperature at many places remained slightly above normal levels. Whereas in Chandigarh the minimum temperature was recorded at 9.7 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees more than normal.

Cold wave continues in most areas of Rajasthan.

Fog was seen at various places in the state on Saturday morning. Cold day was recorded at some places in eastern and western Rajasthan. The minimum temperature in Sirohi was 5.1 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was recorded at 5.2 degrees in Sikar, 5.3 degrees in Pilani, 5.8 degrees in Jaipur, 6 degrees in Anta, 6.2 degrees in Alwar, Churu and Fatehpur.
