The statement said that the fixed charge for rural consumers has been increased by Rs 25, while the fixed charge for urban consumers will remain the same.
Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Commission (JSERC) on Wednesday announced an increase of 7.66 percent in electricity tariffs in the state. Under the new rates, domestic consumers in rural areas will have to pay Rs 6.30 per unit from Rs 5.80. Similarly, urban consumers will now have to pay Rs 6.65 per unit instead of Rs 6.30. The revised tariff will be effective from March 1.
Government will continue to provide subsidies
According to the JSERC statement, the government will continue to provide subsidy. According to this, domestic customers will continue to get relief through various subsidy slabs up to 125 units of free electricity and up to 400 units. Despite JBVNL’s proposal of 39.71% increase, the Commission after review approved 7.66% increase.
Increase in fixed fee by Rs 25
The statement said that the fixed charge for rural consumers has been increased by Rs 25, while the fixed charge for urban consumers will remain the same. Additionally, a discount of two percent is proposed on bills paid within five days of production. The Commission has kept the tariff for rooftop solar PV projects at Rs 4.16/kWh for gross metering and Rs 3.80/kWh for net metering.
