IRCTC Users Alert: These days many people prefer to book tickets online as they do not want to stand in long queues outside the booking counters. For many, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is the most preferred platform when it comes to booking tickets online.
A large number of passengers use this platform to book train tickets. IRCTC is an Indian public sector undertaking and also provides services such as catering and tourism services for the Indian Railways. However, it seems some miscreants are taking advantage of the platform’s popularity and circulating phishing links similar to the official website to commit cyber crimes.
Taking serious note of the situation, IRCTC has warned users about the high risk of cyber frauds. IRCTC urges people to be vigilant and not click on fraudulent links while booking tickets online.

IRCTC has warned people about a malicious Android application named ‘irctcconnect.apk’. As per reports, IRCTC has said that the link is being shared on instant messaging platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram. The link is hosted on a phishing website ‘https://irctc.creditmobile.site’.
According to IRCTC, this Android app (apk file) is malicious and if clicked has the potential to hack mobile devices. The link is being widely shared by the fraudsters and they urge users to download this Android application.
When someone downloads the app, fraudsters use it to access users’ sensitive details such as net banking credentials, UPI details, credit/debit card information, etc.
IRCTC Rail Connect
For the safety of users, IRCTC has urged people to use only IRCTC authorized app – ‘IRCTC Rail Connect’ and download it only from Google Play Store or Apple Store.
The only way to stay safe from these online scams is to follow IRCTC guidelines and use only authorized platforms to download official apps.
