UIDAI is a legislative authority established by the Government of India under the requirements of the Aadhaar Act, 2016. A secure QR code is affixed on each Aadhaar card, letter or e-Aadhaar. This QR code contains the name, gender, date of birth and address of the Aadhaar number holder as well as a photograph.
The information in the QR code remains secure and cannot be tampered with as it is digitally generated by UIDAI, even if an image of another person with the Aadhaar card is photoshopped. The QR code can be read using the Aadhaar QR scanner app, which is available on Google Play and the App Store.
