These raids are being conducted at locations in Kolkata, Tamil Nadu and New Delhi of West Bengal. According to sources, there is a case of tax evasion of more than Rs 200 crore. According to sources, raids are also being conducted at the homes and offices of top officials of the company.
Lux Industries was formerly known as Vishwanath Hosiery Mills. It was founded in 1957 by Girdhari Lalji Todi. The company manufactures undergarments for men, women and children.
Capital markets regulator SEBI had last year banned 14 people for indulging in insider trading. Udit Todi, son of Lux Industries managing director Ashok Todi, was also among those banned by SEBI. Udit was holding the post of Executive Director in the company. SEBI had ordered confiscation of illegal profits of Lux Industries Limited of Rs 2.94 crore in the case.
