DA Hike: The central government on Friday announced a big gift for lakhs of government employees and pensioners of the country. The cabinet today approved a 2 percent increase in dearness allowance (DA) for central government employees. Along with this, an increase in dearness relief (DR) was also approved for pensioners. Giving this information, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the increased dearness allowance and dearness relief will be applicable from January 1, 2025. This decision of the government will benefit 48.66 lakh central government employees and 66.55 lakh pensioners. How much dearness allowance is available now

Keeping inflation in mind, the government has taken this big step for its employees and pensioners. Let us tell you that dearness allowance is paid on the basic salary of the employees. Suppose you are a government employee and your basic salary is Rs 20,000. You are given 53 percent dearness allowance of basic salary of Rs 20,000. 53 percent of Rs 20,000 is Rs 10,600. That is, right now you get a dearness allowance of Rs 10,600 on a basic salary of Rs 20,000. Let us tell you that employees are paid dearness allowance along with salary every month.

How much will the salary increase after DA increase

Now the government has increased the dearness allowance by 2 percent to 55 percent. Therefore, now 55 percent dearness allowance will be available on a basic salary of Rs 20,000. 55 percent of Rs 20,000 is Rs 11,000. That is, currently you get dearness allowance of Rs 10,600 on a basic salary of Rs 20,000, which will increase to Rs 11,000. In this way, your monthly salary will increase by Rs 400. Keep in mind that the increase in your salary due to increase in DA will depend on your basic salary. The higher your basic salary, the more your salary will increase. Here we have calculated the dearness allowance by taking the example of a basic salary of Rs 20,000.
