DA Hike: Employees waiting for dearness allowance hike got a big blow

DA Hike: The employees who have been waiting for dearness allowance for a long time have got a big shock. According to a report, it is being said that there can be an increase of only 3 percent in the DA and DR of the employees.

Central employees are waiting for DA for the second half of the year 2023. At the same time, pensioners are also announcing gifts on dearness relief ie DR. If media reports are to be believed then this time there will be an increase of 3 percent in DA and DR. If this happens, the hopes of those central employees who were waiting for a hike of 4 percent will be shocked.

Why to expect-

Dearness Allowance is decided every month on the basis of Consumer Price Index of Industrial Workers (AICPI-IW) released by the Labor Bureau of the government. AICPI-IW for June 2023 was released recently.

Accordingly, this time the indexation rate is more than 3%, which induces a 4% increase in Dearness Allowance. However, according to Shiv Gopal Mishra, general secretary of All India Railwaymen’s Federation, the government is not considering increasing DA beyond the decimal point. This means that the government can increase the DA/DR by 3%.

How much will be the DA –

The Central government can increase the dearness allowance for its more than one crore employees and pensioners by three percent to 45 percent under the agreed formula. The DA hike will be effective from July 1, 2023.

At present, more than one crore central government employees and pensioners are getting 42 per cent dearness allowance. The last revision in DA was done on March 24, 2023 and was effective from January 1, 2023.
