DA Hike Latest Update: There is good news for lakhs of employees. From the new year, the government of this state has announced to increase the Dearness Allowance for its employees.
Dearness Allowance for West Bengal government employees has increased by 4 percent from next year.
This announcement was made by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during the launch of Kolkata Christmas Carnival. Government employees of West Bengal were protesting for almost a year demanding DA hike.
Mamata Banerjee announced that all 14 lakh state government employees, teaching and non-teaching staff of all schools, colleges and universities and all pensioners will get the benefit of 4 percent DA increase from January 1, 2024.
The state government will bear an additional expenditure of Rs 2,400 crore to ensure the increase in allowances. It is known that dearness allowance is a component of the salary of government employees and pensioners.
The purpose of dearness allowance is to reduce the effect of inflation. To deal with rising inflation, the salaries of government employees are reviewed from time to time.
