Digi Yatra facility has been started at six more airports including Kochi. Presently Digi Yatra service is available at seven airports across the country. It was first launched on December 1, 2022 at the airports of Delhi, Varanasi and Bengaluru. A release has also been issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation regarding this.

The government has announced to start Digi Yatra facility on Friday i.e. 12 August 2023 at six more airports including Mumbai and Kochi. Presently Digi Yatra service is available at seven airports across the country. It was first launched on December 1, 2022 at the airports of Delhi, Varanasi and Bengaluru. A release has also been issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation regarding this.

The Civil Aviation Ministry in a release said that the Digi Yatra facility will be launched in six more airports namely Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Lucknow, Jaipur and Guwahati airports in the month of August 2023.

The implementation and installation of Digi Yatra infrastructure at these airports will happen in a phased manner. In this facility, facial recognition of passengers will allow contactless and seamless movement of passengers by checking them at different points at airports on the basis of FRT.

At present, so many lakh passengers have used it

According to the ministry, till August 10, 3.46 million passengers i.e. around 30 lakh 46 thousand passengers have used the Digi Yatra facility. Presently, Digi Yatra facility is also available in Vijayawada, Pune, Hyderabad and Kolkata. Under this facility, the data of passengers is encrypted and not stored centrally. It is shared only between the passenger and the airport of travel origin, where the Digi Travel ID of the passenger is required to be validated. Data is removed from airport systems within 24 hours after flight departure.

What is DigiYatra

DigiYatra is a one-of-a-kind face recognition system that enables contactless, seamless travel for passengers at airports. With this, passengers can pass through different check points without any contact, for which their face will be used. This process will take less than three seconds at each touchpoint. In this facility, the passenger’s face will act as his document ID proof, vaccine proof and boarding pass.
