Crop Survey: Continuous steps are being taken by the Modi government at the Center to make the farmers financially empowered. This scheme has been started by the government for better data collection of sowing of Kharif season.
On the basis of pilot project, the scheme has been started in 12 states. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar told in a written reply in the Lok Sabha that the government has launched Digital Crop Survey (DCS) as a pilot in 12 states from Kharif-2023.
This system will tell the condition of the land
He told that DCS has been prepared as open source, open standard and inter-operable public good. Tomar said, ‘In addition, geo-referenced cadastral maps along with Geographic Information System (GIC) and Global Positioning System (GPS) technology are used to ascertain the location of arable land.’
The scheme started in these 12 states,
the Agriculture Minister said that the 12 states selected as pilot projects for DCS are Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Odisha, Assam and Telangana.
Tomar told that the purpose of this scheme is to collect the correct information about the data of the crop sown. With this, the correct area of the crop can be assessed. Apart from this, it is also useful for the development of various farmer centric solutions.
Its purpose is to provide data for different agricultural activities. Such as estimating the total area during cultivation. Apart from this, damage due to natural calamities and disease attacks and assessment of agro-meteorological services across the country.
