Driving License: If you want to get a driving license or a vehicle registration certificate, then there is good news for you. For both these works, you have to provide some documents as proof. You have to verify details like name, address, age. Now soon you will have a list of 30 such documents, out of which a license can be taken or registration can be done through any one proof.

30 types of ID documents are common for identity proof, address proof and age proof like Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Indian Passport, State or Central Service Certificate, while the rest of the IDs will be valid for different proofs, like Ration Card, If the marriage certificate is for proof of address then the same birth certificate is valid for proof of age. The same PAN card is valid for proof of identity.

Ministry of Transport issued draft list

The Ministry of Road Transport has released a draft list of valid documents for driving license and registration certificate, which includes 30 IDs to verify name, address, age. License can be taken through the proof of any one of these documents. The ministry has sought suggestions on this from all the stakeholders including the states till May 10. MoRTH believes that this will make it easier for the people. In 30 documents, certificates issued by governments for transgenders will also be valid. With this rule, many options will be available to the people to prove their age, address, citizenship etc.

The Ministry has issued a circular on April 24, stating that for the convenience of the citizens, the Ministry is working on a proposal, which will include Proof of ID, Address Proof and Proof of Age/Date of Driving License and Registration Certificate. The scope of documents to be submitted for berth is being increased. The list of these documents has been taken from the documents that UIDAI asks for to update Aadhaar.
