eShram Card Download: Modi government is doing many things for the benefit of the poor. At the same time, many schemes are being run by the government for the welfare of the laborers. Meanwhile, Union Labor and Employment Minister Bhupendra Yadav has launched new facilities for the e-labor portal.
These additional features will enhance the utility of the portal and promote easy registration for unorganized sector workers. The ministry said in a statement that workers registered on e-Shram can now connect to employment, skill and apprenticeship opportunities as well as pension schemes and schemes of states through the portal.
Benefits for migrant workers
One of the key features added on e-Shram allows capturing of family details of migrant workers. It aims to provide child education and women-centric schemes to workers who have migrated with their families.
Prioritized data sharing
Another new feature has enabled the data of registered construction workers to be shared with the concerned Building and Other Construction Workers’ (BOCW) Welfare Board. “This has been done to ensure registration of e-labor construction workers with the concerned BOCW board and access to schemes for them,” the ministry said.
Data Sharing Portal
Yadav also formally launched the Data Sharing Portal (DSP) to share e-labour data with State and Union Territory Governments in a secure manner. Its objective is to bring in targeted implementation of welfare schemes for unorganized workers.
Better implementation of welfare schemes
Recently the ministry also started mapping the data of various schemes with e-Shram data to identify the registrants who are yet to receive the benefits of these schemes. This information is also being shared with the states and union territories. Based on the information they can identify the unorganized workers who are still benefiting from the welfare schemes and help them on priority.
The e- Shram
Portal was launched on 26 August 2021 through the Ministry of Labor and Employment to create a comprehensive national database of workers in the unorganized sector. This information is linked with the Aadhaar card. As on 21 April 2023, more than 28.87 crore unorganized workers are registered on the e-Shram Portal.
