Thousands and lakhs of employees and pensioners of the state will now get a new dearness allowance from January 1. That means their salary and pension will increase.
Dearness allowance will increase to 55%
Earlier, the state government had increased the dearness allowance of government employees and pensioners by 3% in October 2024. After the hike made on Friday, the dearness allowance of state government employees and pensioners will increase from 53% to 55%. The hike in dearness allowance comes after the Union Cabinet on March 28 increased the dearness allowance for central government employees and pensioners by 2%. The DA of central government employees and pensioners has also increased from the existing 53% to 55%.
Keep in mind, the increase in your salary due to increase in dearness allowance will depend on your basic salary. The higher the basic salary, the higher will be the proportionate increase in your salary.
