Not all farmers in India are completely prosperous and rich. That is why the government runs schemes to provide assistance to such farmers. Farmers are called the country’s food  provider, if farmers stop working, more than half of the country’s economy will come to a standstill. India is an agricultural country and 60 percent of its population lives in villages. The biggest source of income  in villages is farming. Now the government keeps bringing different types of schemes to increase the income of farmers and to encourage them.

Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme

The central government has started the crop insurance scheme so that farmers can be given financial help in case of crop loss. An effort has been made to bring farmers together under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. The government has a vision and mission for this scheme. Financial assistance is given under the insurance scheme in case of crop damage due to disaster, pest attack or drought.

Prime Minister Kisan Irrigation Scheme (PM Kisan Irrigation Scheme)

To solve a major problem related to irrigation, the central government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana. Under this scheme, water is to be supplied to every farm. The government has decided to get more crop per drop in an attractive way with an end-to-end system for farmers on source creation, detail, board, field application and development practice.

PKVY

It is also called the Traditional Agriculture Development Scheme. Under this central government scheme, the  Government of India provides financial assistance of Rs 50,000 per hectare to farmers. Assistance is given every three years for organic process, certification, labeling, packaging and transportation in organic production. The government provides financial assistance to farmers through this scheme. It also encourages them to do organic farming.

Kisan Credit Card

Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme was launched by the Central Government in 1998 to provide farmers with adequate credit for their farming or agricultural expenditure. Under this scheme, the Government of India provides assistance to farmers with agricultural loans at a concessional rate of 4% per annum as government subsidy for agriculture. So far, 2.5 crore farmers have availed the benefits of this scheme.

PM Kisan Samman Nidhi

The Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana has been started by the central government, which gives 6 thousand rupees annually to the farmers. Any farmer of the country can apply under this scheme. This amount is given in three installments, which are given at an interval of 4 months. It can be applied through the official website.
