New ITR E-Filing Portal 3.0: In view of the problems faced by taxpayers, the Income Tax Department is preparing to launch a new ITR e-filing portal 3.0 to make filing income tax returns (ITR) easier. Currently, suggestions have been sought from the people for this.
New ITR E-Filing Portal 3.0: The e-filing ITR portal for income tax returns is set to undergo ‘substantial’ changes, which will make it more convenient for taxpayers to file returns. According to ET Wealth Online’s sources, an internal circular of the Income Tax Department, which is not publicly available,
states (October 8, 2024) that the operational phase of the existing Integrated e-Filing (IEC) and Centralized Processing Center (CPC) 2.0 is ending and the process of bringing in a new project IEC 3.0 (which will replace the existing project IEC 2.0) has already begun.
How will the new e-filing ITR portal IEC 3.0 help
According to the internal circular mentioned earlier, the Income Tax Department said that the IEC project provides an e-filing platform that allows taxpayers to electronically file their ITRs, submit statutory forms and access various other services. An important element of the IEC project is the Centralised Processing Centre (CPC), which is responsible for processing the ITRs submitted through the e-filing portal and ITBA.
In addition, IEC provides a back-office (BO) portal, which is used by field officers to access taxpayer filing and processing data, the Income Tax Department said in an internal circular. The Income Tax Department’s internal circular states that IEC Project 3.0 is envisaged not only to provide continuity of service offered by IEC Project 2.0 but also to establish a significantly improved system to ensure a secure and user-friendly environment.
Income Tax Department is seeking suggestions from the people
The Income Tax Department is seeking suggestions from the public before launching the new ITR e-filing 3.0 portal. The Income Tax Department has said in the above internal circular that Project IEC 3.0 will have a far-reaching impact on the functioning of the department as well as taxpayers and the general public in the coming years. Therefore, it is important for the Income Tax Department to seek opinions and suggestions from ITR portal users and other stakeholders to make the IEC 3.0 project taxpayer-friendly.
In the internal circular, the Income Tax Department said that it is conducting extensive consultations with various Integrated e-Filing (IEC) users or stakeholders and seeks their opinions, views, suggestions regarding the good features or shortcomings of the existing project IEC 2.0 as well as concrete improvements that can be made in IEC 3.0.
