Indian Railways: PM Modi will launch the renovation works of Gurugram, Rewari and Pataudi railway stations in NCR at a total cost of ₹219 crore.
Indian Railways: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to launch the renovation works of three railway stations in the National Capital Region (NCR). Renovation work of Gurugram, Rewari and Pataudi railway stations will start soon, with a total cost of ₹219 crore.
₹ 200 crore will be spent on Gurugram railway station, which will completely change its appearance. Whereas, Pataudi and Rewari stations will get help of ₹12 crore and ₹7 crore respectively. The announcement was made by Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh while meeting Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, The Tribune reported.
Inderjeet said, “Gurugram is making rapid progress but infrastructure like the railway station needs a major upgrade. The work was already going on and now PM Modi will launch the mega renovation project. Better railway connectivity will give a big boost to warehouses and freight corridors coming up in the region.
The refurbishment project aims to improve passenger amenities including seating arrangements, train displays, foot-over bridges and waiting rooms. Several entry and exit gates will also be added at Gurugram railway station. The improved railway connectivity is expected to give a boost to warehousing and freight corridors in the region, which will contribute to the growth of the region.
Raised demand for DEMU
During the meeting, a demand was raised to restart the Farukhnagar-Delhi DEMU train from Garhi Harsaru which was stopped during the pandemic. According to The Tribune report, in view of the demand of the passengers, the Railway Minister ordered that the service be resumed soon.
