Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has given a big gift to the state employees by approving the State Employees Health Insurance Scheme. Under this, they will now be able to get health insurance up to Rs 10 lakh. It will be implemented after the cabinet’s approval.
There is great news for the state employees of Jharkhand, soon they will get the benefit of State Employees Health Insurance Scheme and under this, employees will be given health insurance up to Rs 5 lakh per year, while health coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh will be available in case of serious diseases. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has agreed to the proposal to implement this scheme.
Will be implemented after cabinet approval
Cabinet approval will be taken soon regarding the proposal of State Employees Health Insurance Scheme and after that it will be implemented. Let us tell you that under the resolution number-185 (13) issued by the Department of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare on July 31, 2023, it is proposed to give the benefit of health insurance scheme to the working, retired employees, officials of the state. This proposal, which was stuck since then, has now been approved by the Soren government and the state employees will soon start getting its benefits.
Who will get the benefit of the scheme?
The benefits of this health scheme will be available to the current members of Jharkhand State Legislative Assembly, employees working in all services of the state, retired employees and their family members, which will include their spouse, son, legal adopted son (up to the age of 25 years provided unemployed), daughter (unmarried, widow), minor brother and unmarried sister as well as dependent parents. All of them will be given health insurance under the maximum limit of Rs 05 lakh per year in a combined form. Apart from this, under this scheme, lifelong health coverage will be provided to disabled dependents of state employees and retired employees.
Additional coverage for critical illnesses
Under the State Employee Health Insurance Scheme, health insurance up to Rs. 5 lakh per family per year will be provided to the beneficiaries and their dependents, considering them as a family unit. In cases of identified critical illnesses (attached as Annexure “A”), an additional limit of Rs. 5 lakh will be spent on treatment of such critical illnesses from the maintained Corporate Buffer of Rs. 50 crore on the recommendation of the concerned hospital providing treatment.
In case of medical expenses exceeding the insurance amount of any insured state employee at the level of Jharkhand State Arogya Society, a Corpus Fund will be maintained to bear the additional medical expenses, from which payment can be made in such cases.
