Jharkhand News Today: On Friday night, people of the Muslim community pelted stones at the immersion procession of the idol of Mother Saraswati near the mosque located in Nagdi Bazaar. Stones were pelted at the procession near the mosque. Due to this the situation became tense.
Nearby shopkeepers closed their shops. The situation became tense. Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate has imposed prohibitory order from 10 pm on Friday night till further orders.
Hundreds of people had taken out a procession with musical instruments for the immersion of Maa Saraswati idol in Nagdi. Around 30 puja pandals were involved in the procession. They were returning after immersing the idol in Naya Talab while playing DJ. Then stone pelting started near Nagari Jama Masjid. This caused a stampede.
After receiving information about the incident, DC, SSP, City SP, Rural SP, DSP along with police officers from many police stations reached the spot. Hundreds of police forces have been deployed to keep the situation under control.
The statue of Mother Saraswati was damaged in Namkum.
A young man has damaged the statue installed by the Kings Star Club Saraswati Puja Committee located in Sidraul Bazaar, Namkum. Seeing the idol being damaged, the villagers informed the Namkum police.
According to the information received, the committee members had gone to eat dinner at 11.30 pm on Thursday, but when they returned after eating, they saw that the statue had fallen and had been damaged.
During this incident, Mangal Kachhap of the village told that a young man had entered his house and they are searching for him. During this time everyone started searching for him. Then the young man was caught and when interrogated, he admitted to breaking the idol. The youth told his name as Rahul Singh and described himself as a resident of Ramgarh.
Told that he lives on rent in Gauri Shankar Sah’s house in Sidraul. When seen in the boy’s room, the idol’s head was kept on his bed. The police reached the spot and took him to the police station for questioning, but he did not tell anything. At the same time, the police is engaged in investigation in this matter, but till now the written application has not been given by the committee.
Police busy in identifying stone pelters, scanning CCTV
The situation has become tense after stone pelting at the immersion procession in Nagdi on Friday night. Police are busy scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed near the incident site to identify the stone pelters. The Deputy Commissioner has ordered the soldiers to keep vigil in and around the incident site.
Rural SP is monitoring the entire matter. Police say that some people have suffered minor injuries in stone pelting and have been sent home after first aid. Police have said that stone pelters will not be spared. The people involved in the procession told the police that the procession had started with musical instruments. This included about 30 puja pandals from different localities. The procession reached Nagri Naya Talab at around seven o’clock.
After immersing the idol, people were returning after playing DJ. The procession reached Nagari Jama Masjid at around eight o’clock. Then suddenly stone pelting started but due to the alertness of the administration, the fire was saved. Prohibitory order has been issued in Nagari area till further orders. Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate has imposed prohibitory order in Nagari area under Section 144.
Traffic jams persisted in many areas
Ranchi News: Due to Saraswati Puja immersion procession taking place in the capital, there was traffic jam in many areas on Friday. However, police personnel were deployed on duty in front of every procession. Despite this, the jam was mainly in Lalpur, Ratu Road, Kokar and Chutiya areas and people were troubled by getting stuck in this jam for a long time.
After the problem of traffic jam, the soldiers posted at the intersections took charge and brought the immersion procession through and normalized the situation.
Due to several immersion processions taking place simultaneously on the main road, there was a problem of traffic jam. On the main road, the police of Lower Bazaar police station and Kotwali police station made the immersion procession pass. The police station officials had taken advance information about the immersion procession.
Because of this, police station officers were first sending soldiers to the areas from which the immersion procession was taking place. Apart from this, the soldiers deployed in PCR also handled the traffic arrangements.
