The bodies of four youths were found near Rukka Dam in Ranchi’s Mesra OP area. They have been identified as Shoaib of Nevri, Shahid Nurullah of Chuttua, Mohd Asif and Mohd Maqsood. Seeing the condition of the bodies, the families of the youths are suspecting murder, while the police suspect that all four died due to lightning. At present, after taking the bodies into custody and sending them to RIMS for postmortem, the police have started investigating both the points of murder and death due to lightning.
Here, family members and villagers reached Mesra OP and created ruckus late at night. Police pacified them by assuring them that the matter will be investigated seriously. According to police, all the four youths left home on two bikes at 10 am to go to Rukka dam to catch fish. All the four would return by 5 pm every day after fishing. On Tuesday, when the four did not return home by 6 pm, the family members started looking for them. When the four did not answer their mobile phones, the family members started suspecting something untoward.
Commotion in the area
At 9 pm, the search started with the villagers. At 10:30 pm, both the bikes were found on the way from BIT to the dam but the youths were not there. On going near the dam, it was seen that all four were lying dead. The neck of one was stuck in the fishing net, while the vest of two was burnt. After this, commotion started and by then someone informed the police. After getting the information, the police of BIT Mesra OP reached the spot and took the dead body in their custody.
Shahid was a nursing student
According to the information, Shahid Nurullah of Chuttuya village was doing a nursing course in Medanta Hospital after completing his BA. Whereas Mo Asif of the same village was studying in a college. After this incident, there is an atmosphere of grief and anger in Nevri and Chuttuya villages.
