The bugle for assembly elections has been sounded in Jharkhand. Elections will be held in two phases in Jharkhand. Voting will be held on 13th and 20th November and the results will be declared on 23rd. The current term of the assembly in Jharkhand is ending on 5th January.

Gazette notifications for the first phase will be issued on October 18. Nominations can be filed till October 25. Scrutiny will be done on October 28. Nominations can be withdrawn till October 30. Gazette notifications for the second phase will be issued on October 22. Nominations can be filed till October 29. Scrutiny will be done on October 30. The last date for withdrawal of nomination will be November 1.

The Chief Election Commissioner said that voters above 85 years of age will have the facility to vote from home. Voters who have filled the 12D form will be allowed to vote at their homes. Video recording of voting from home will also be done. He said that technology will be used to make the voting process easy and fair. Candidates with criminal background will have to publish the information about the cases registered against them in the newspaper three times.

2.6 crore voters will vote at 29 thousand booths

Rajiv Kumar said that there are 81 seats in 24 districts of Jharkhand, out of which 44 are of general category. 9 seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 28 seats for Scheduled Tribes. There are a total of 2.06 crore voters in Jharkhand. A total of 29,562 booths will be set up. Of these, 5042 will be in urban areas and 24,520 in rural areas. An average of 881 voters will exercise their franchise at one booth. 1271 booths will be managed by women.

Grand alliance won 47 seats in the last election

In the 2019 assembly elections, the alliance of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) won 47 out of 81 seats in the state, while the BJP was reduced to 25 seats and the then Chief Minister Raghuvar Das also lost the election. Hemant Soren became the Chief Minister and after running the government for more than 4 years, he had to resign before going to jail in January 2024 in an alleged land scam. After getting bail, he became the Chief Minister again.
