Jharkhand HC: High Court will not interfere in the notification of civic elections, refused

Justice Sen had passed the order on January 4 after hearing a writ petition filed by former ward councilors Roshni Khalko, Vinod Singh, Sunil Yadav and Arun Jha – over the delay in holding the municipal corporation elections.

The Jharkhand High Court on Monday refused to entertain the state government’s plea challenging the earlier order of a single judge. In this, instructions were given to notify the dates for holding municipal elections in the state.

In fact, a division bench of Acting Chief Justice Chandrashekhar and Justice Navneet Kumar was hearing an appeal against an earlier order of Justice Anand Sen, which had directed the state to hold civic elections and notify the dates within three weeks.

Let us inform you that the last civic elections were held in April 2018 and the tenure of the councilors ended in 2023. Justice Sen had passed the order on January 4 after hearing a writ petition filed by former ward councilors Roshni Khalko, Vinod Singh, Sunil Yadav and Arun Jha – over the delay in holding the municipal corporation elections.

Aggrieved by the single judge’s order, the state government appealed before the division bench, which declined to interfere with the earlier order.
