Jharkhand BJP Candidate List: BJP is busy in deciding candidates in Chatra and Dhanbad. If sources are to be believed, BJP State Committee has sent the name of Panki MLA Shashi Bhushan Mehta for Chatra seat. All eyes are on when will the suspense over the three seats end?
In Jharkhand, BJP has announced its candidates for 11 seats against the total 14 Lok Sabha seats. Among the three seats for which candidates have not been declared yet, Dhanbad and Chatra seats are under BJP quota, while Giridih seat is in the account of AJSU party. It is being said that Dhanbad’s sitting MP PN Singh will not get the ticket due to his increasing age. In case of giving ticket to PN Singh, it is possible that the party may field a new face there, whereas AJSU is certain to get the Giridih seat.
There is doubt regarding Chatra seat. Many names are involved in the race for ticket from Chatra Lok Sabha seat from Bharatiya Janata Party. According to the information received, there are many names including current MP Sunil Singh, Panki MLA Dr. Shashibhushan Mehta, party’s state general secretary Manoj Singh, party’s Kalicharan Singh, former deputy mayor Mangal Singh. Apart from this, there are many other names who want to contest elections from Chatra. Three names have been decided in the mutual consultation of the party held a few days ago.
The names of all three have been kept confidential. BJP has reserved the seats of Dhanbad and Chatra. PN Singh has been MP from Dhanbad for three consecutive terms. This time, if BJP has not yet given a candidate for its traditional seat, then many meanings are being inferred from it. BJP had fought the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in alliance with AJSU Party. BJP had fielded candidates on 13 seats, while one seat was given to AJSU. 11 out of 13 candidates from BJP and one from AJSU had won. That means NDA had won 12 seats.
Rajmahal seat has been in the possession of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) since 2014. Vijay Hansda has been winning from there despite the wave of Narendra Modi. Geeta Koda, wife of Madhu Koda, defeated the BJP candidate on Congress ticket from Singhbhum. Geeta Koda is now in BJP and the party has made her its candidate from Singhbhum itself. The three seats where BJP has not yet announced candidates are Dhanbad, Giridih and Chatra. Dhanbad and Chatra have been BJP seats, while Giridih is held by BJP’s ally AJSU. It is believed that BJP can give two of these seats to NDA constituents. AJSU’s Giridih seat is considered confirmed, from where Chandra Prakash Choudhary had won last time.
