Jharkhand Rain Red Alert: The Meteorological Department had already warned of heavy rain in Jharkhand. Now heavy rain is continuing in entire Jharkhand. Due to this, rivers and streams have overflowed. There is news of heavy damage due to strong storm and rain in Mahuadanr and Barwadih of Latehar district. There are reports of collapse of kutcha houses from many districts. Traffic has been badly affected due to trees falling on the roads. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert of very heavy rain in many parts of Jharkhand during the next 24 hours.

Red alert in six districts

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rains in different parts of Gumla, Khunti, Ranchi, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega districts of Jharkhand during the next 24 hours. At the same time, an orange alert for heavy rains has also been issued in different parts of Garhwa, Palamu, Latehar, Lohardaga and Ranchi. Along with this, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rains in many other districts of the state.

Ranchi student drowns in falls

Aryan Oraon, a student of Gossner College in Ranchi district, drowned in Budhmu Zikra Falls on Sunday. Aryan had gone to visit Zikra Falls with his friends at 11 am on Sunday. All the friends went towards the bottom of the falls while visiting Zikra Falls. During this time, Aryan fell into the deep water of the falls and got trapped in the whirlpool and drowned. Aryan’s friends informed the villagers and a local villager tried to search him by wading into the deep water, but failed. Police reached the spot after getting the information. Efforts are on to rescue Aryan.

Damage in many areas of Latehar district

Mahuadand and Barwadih of Latehar district have suffered heavy damage due to storm and rain. Durga Mandap shed broke and 8 motorcycles got buried due to falling of tree in Barwadih in strong storm. Traffic is disrupted due to falling of tree on Garu main road between Mahuadand/Medininagar. Traffic is affected due to water of Ranjadda river of Mahuadand flowing over the bridge. Danro river is in spate in Garhwa district headquarters.

Effect in Palamu too

Life is disrupted due to heavy rain in Palamu too. Water is flowing over the bridge on the road from Dubatiya turn to Pipra, Hussainabad on NH 139 in Hariharganj. The bridge is built on Batre river near Babhandi village. Jharkhand’s highest waterfall, Lodh Falls, located in Mahuadanr, a wolf sanctuary in the western plateau, 17 km from Mahuadanr headquarters in Latehar district, is seen in its majestic form after the first monsoon rain.
