LPG Gas Cylinder : Yogi government’s Diwali gift! Free gas cylinder announced, do this work soon to avail the benefit

The price of a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder in Uttar Pradesh (as of September) is Rs 842.42. Under the Ujjwala scheme, the central government provides a subsidy of Rs 334.78 on the cylinder given to the beneficiary. The remaining discount of Rs 508.14 will be given by the state government. This also includes the exchange rate (50 paise) for sending money to the accounts per cylinder.

Beneficiary women of Ujjwala Yojana will be given free LPG cylinder (refill) before Diwali. They will get free cylinder before Holi also, but only Aadhar certified beneficiaries will be able to avail this benefit. Let us tell you that last year only 54 lakh Aadhar certified beneficiaries could get the benefit of free cylinder.

It has been clarified in the government order issued by the Food and Logistics Department that two free cylinders will be provided to the Ujjwala beneficiaries in the first phase from October to December and in the second phase from January to March 2025. This benefit will be available only to those beneficiaries whose bank accounts are linked and certified with Aadhaar. In the current financial year, the state government will spend Rs 1889.84 crore on the cylinders to be given free of cost during Diwali and Holi. This estimate has been made on the basis of existing Aadhaar certified beneficiaries.
