LPG is cheaper, toll is expensive… Everything from UPI to income tax has changed from today, these are the 15 big changes

From today, the rules for home loans have also changed. The Reserve Bank of India has implemented a new rule in priority sector lending, which will replace the old rules of 2020.

1-Gas cylinder cheaper:

Gas cylinder prices have come down from Delhi to Mumbai and Chennai. A reduction of up to Rs 40 has been announced in commercial gas cylinders. Whereas, there has been no change in domestic gas cylinders. According to Indian Oil Corporation, the price of commercial gas cylinder in the national capital Delhi has now become Rs 1762 and it has been reduced by Rs 41. Whereas after the reduction of Rs 44 50 paise in Kolkata, the new price of commercial gas cylinder has become Rs 1868.50. Whereas, in the country’s financial capital Mumbai, the price of commercial gas cylinder has been reduced by Rs 42, after which it has now become Rs 1713 50 paise. On the other hand, if we talk about Chennai, after a reduction of Rs 43 50 paise, the new price of the cylinder has become Rs 1921 50 paise.

2- Income up to 12 lakh tax free

In the new financial year, now you will not have to pay any tax on income up to Rs 12 lakh. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had given a big relief to the salaried and the middle class in the budget presented for the financial year 2025-26. That is, now income of Rs 12 lakh 75 thousand will be tax free. A standard deduction of Rs 75 thousand will be available.

3- Changes in UPS

From April 1, the Unified Pension Scheme replaced the old pension scheme, which was started by the government in August 2024. UPS will affect about 23 lakh central government employees.

4-Change in credit card rules

State Bank of India, Axis Bank and IDFC have announced changes in their credit card rules for the new financial year. Under the new rules, reward points, fees and other changes have been made, as well as reduction in previously available cashback and offers.

5-Jet fuel cheaper

Air travel is expected to become cheaper in the new financial year. Oil companies have reduced the prices of fuel used in airplanes. While the price of jet fuel in the national capital Delhi has come down to less than Rs 90 thousand per liter, its new price in Mumbai has come down to less than Rs 84 thousand per kiloliter. However, the price of ATF in Chennai and Kolkata is still more than 90 thousand kiloliters.

6-Bank minimum balance

All government banks like SBI, Canara and PNB have announced to increase the minimum amount of minimum balance. However, this minimum balance has been decided on the basis of urban, semi-urban and rural areas. If an account holder keeps less than that minimum balance in a month, then a penalty will be imposed on him.

7- Cars will become expensive

Cars are also going to become expensive from today. On one hand, from BMW to Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Kia have announced to increase the price of vehicles, on the other hand Mahindra & Mahindra and SUV have also increased its price.

8- Change in UPI rules

In view of the increasing digital transactions and the role of UPI in it, the National Payments Corporation of India has issued several rules regarding its security. It has been implemented from April 1, after which instructions have been given to gradually remove the closed mobile numbers associated with UPI of Phone Pay, Google Pay.

9- Toll has become expensive

Today, the National Highway Authority of India has made the toll tax expensive. That means now more money will have to be paid at the toll than before. NHAI has approved different charges on different tolls and national highways of the country, which has been implemented.

10-Physical stamp paper discontinued

In Uttar Pradesh, physical stamp papers of Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 have been discontinued from April 1. This step of the government, started with the aim of promoting digital, will not only increase transparency but e-stamping will also provide great convenience to the people.

11- Changes in GST rules

Some important changes are also going to happen in GST i.e. Goods and Services Tax rules from April 1. E-way bills will not be generated on Aadhaar documents older than 180 days. Also, there will be multi-factor authentication on the GST portal.

12- Changes in DigiLocker

Some changes have also been made in DigiLocker, after which now investors will be able to keep demat account holding statement and consolidated account statement in Digilock. SEBI’s aim of doing this is to make investment management easier along with preventing documents from being lost or forgotten.

13- Change in Home Loan Rules

From today, the rules of home loans have also changed. The Reserve Bank of India has implemented a new rule in Priority Sector Lending, which will replace the old rules of 2020.

14- Change in Mutual Fund Rules

From today, you will also see a change in the rules of mutual funds. According to the new rule of SEBI, the funds raised through the new fund offer will have to be invested within 30 business days.

15-FASTag compulsory in Maharashtra

Now Fastag has been made mandatory in the financial capital Mumbai. If there is no Fastag on a vehicle, then the driver or the car owner will have to pay double the cash. It has been implemented with the aim of promoting digital payments. However, it was already implemented in many parts of the country.
