Now it will not be necessary to provide a photocopy of Aadhaar every time to verify your identity. Check-in at a hotel, boarding a flight, opening a bank account or verification at an office – everywhere you will be able to easily prove your identity through this app.
A big news related to Aadhaar card has come out. Now you will not need to carry Aadhaar card or its photocopy to the airport, hotel or any government office. The government has launched a new Aadhaar Authentication App, which is currently in beta version and its aim is to maintain your data privacy and make the verification process easier.
What is the new Aadhaar app?
Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has given information about this new app on Tuesday. He shared a demo video of it on X (earlier Twitter), which explained how this app will work. This app will be very simple and user-friendly like UPI.
The user simply has to scan a QR code and then the app will verify their identity by scanning their face with the selfie camera. No need to show any card, no need to give any photocopy—just scan and you’re done.
How will it work?
- Scan the QR code: First of all, there will be a QR code at the place where your identity is required.
- Scan the face: The app will open the camera, take your selfie and match it with the UIDAI data.
- Necessary information will be shared: Only those details will be shared which are necessary for that particular verification.
This method ensures that your complete information is not available to everyone, as can happen if you give a photocopy of the Aadhaar card.

What are its benefits?
- Complete attention to data privacy: Only essential information is shared.
- No need for physical card: No hassle of carrying card or photocopy.
- No scope for fake documents: Face authentication will prevent fraud.
- Protection from cyber fraud: Complete attention to ensure that your information does not fall into anyone’s hands.
- One more step towards Digital India: Common citizens are getting connected with technology.
What are its limitations and precautions?
- Currently in beta version: This app is currently in testing mode. It is not yet available on Google Play Store for common people.
- Beware of fake apps: If someone asks you to download the app through a call or link, be cautious. Always download the app from the official source of UIDAI.
- Internet connection required: This app is completely digital, so good internet speed will be necessary.
- Limitations of face recognition: Face scan may be difficult for people in low light or for the elderly.
Now it will not be necessary to provide a photocopy of Aadhaar every time to verify your identity. Check-in at a hotel, boarding a flight, opening a bank account or verification at an office – everywhere you will be able to easily prove your identity through this app. On one hand, this will strengthen Digital India, while on the other hand, the privacy of common people will also be protected.
The new Aadhaar app is bringing a big change. Although it is still in its initial stage, it can eliminate a lot of identity-related hassles in the future. Most importantly, use it with caution and avoid any fake calls or links.
