Old Pension Scheme: Good news for 1.5 lakh government employees, government implemented old pension from this day

These employees will not face deduction under the National Pension Scheme (NPS). The Chief Secretary of the state has issued a notification to implement OPS.

The announcement was made during the assembly elections

In a notification issued by the state government, it was said that the contribution (employer’s and employee’s share) of the state government employees covered under the National Pension Scheme (NPS) as per the decision of the cabinet to implement the old pension scheme (OPS) Will be stopped from April 1, 2023. Let us tell you that during the assembly elections 2022, the Congress had promised to restore the old pension (OPS). Many states have already restored OPS

The decision regarding the restoration of old pension was taken in the first meeting of the state cabinet on January 13, 2023. After this, it was told by the government that OPS will be implemented from April 1 for the state government employees.

Let us tell you that there has been a demand for the restoration of old pension from the employees of different states and central government of the country for a long time. Punjab, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand governments have decided to restore the old pension. Some states have constituted committees to report on this.
