PM Awas Yojana: Every person has a dream of having his own house. To fulfill this, the PM Awas Yojana is being run by the government. In this, people of low income group are given financial assistance by the government to build their house. This scheme was started in the year 2015. Now the Union Cabinet has approved the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0.
Target to provide help to 1 crore families
Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0, 1 crore urban poor and middle class families will be given financial assistance to build, buy or rent affordable houses in urban areas in five years. This decision has been taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Government will provide assistance of Rs 2.30 lakh crore
According to a statement, the government will provide assistance of Rs 2.30 lakh crore under this scheme. A total of 1.18 crore houses have been approved in the first phase of PMAY-U 2.0, while more than 85.5 lakh houses have already been constructed and have been given to the beneficiaries.
The government’s goal is to provide pucca houses
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is one of the major schemes of the central government. It aims to provide all-weather ‘pucca’ houses to all eligible candidates in urban areas. Under PMAY-U 2.0, economically weaker sections, low-income groups or middle-income groups families (who do not have a pucca house anywhere in the country) are eligible to buy or build a house.
PM Modi also gave information about this on Twitter. He wrote, ‘A home brings dignity and increased ability to fulfill one’s dreams. With a record investment of Rs 10 lakh crore, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 scheme will benefit countless people and contribute to better cities.’
