Purani Pension Scheme: Great news for the employees. This new update from the government has made the employees happy. Actually, according to this update, now these central employees will also get the benefit of the old pension scheme.

Before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the central government has given a big relief to the central employees. The government has given the option to the employees to opt for the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). Central employees can opt for the old pension scheme till 31st August. This decision of the government will benefit about 5 thousand central employees from different states across the country including Rajasthan.

Mukesh Mathur, National Assistant General Secretary of All India Railwaymen’s Federation (AIRF) and United Front Convenor of Central and State Government Employees’ Organizations in Rajasthan, said that the Union Ministry of Finance issued a notification on December 22, 2003, on January 1, 2004 and thereafter The National Pension System (NPS) was implemented for the employees appointed to the posts of Central Government Service. The Central Government claimed that the amount of pension to be made after retirement would be more than the amount of pension to be made under the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1972.

After its consequences came, NCJCA Secretary Staff Side Shivgopal Mishra protested. After this, in view of the reforms in the National Pension Scheme (NPS) and the opposition of the employees’ organizations, the benefits of the old pension scheme, such as gratuity, in case of death of the employee and complete disqualification on medical grounds, the old pension scheme equal pension / family. Pension benefits, partial withdrawals for essential works have been included in NPS.

On the other hand, the government also increased its contribution in NPS from 10% to 14%. Union’s Divisional Minister Mukesh Chaturvedi and GLLO President Subhash Pareek said that recently the Finance Ministry has issued orders that the employees whose results were released on or before December 31, 2003. But those appointed on or after 1st January 2004 for administrative reasons can opt for Employees’ Old Pension (OPS).
