The cold season continues

According to the IMD, the maximum temperature in Delhi on Friday was recorded at 18.5 degrees Celsius, which is four degrees below this season’s average, while the humidity during the day ranged between 100 and 74 percent. The department said that the minimum temperature was one degree Celsius less (seven degrees Celsius) than the average temperature of the season.

How will the weather be today

The Meteorological Department has predicted generally cloudy sky and dense fog in the morning on Saturday. The department has also predicted very light rain and drizzle at night due to the latest western disturbance. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 20 and 7 degrees Celsius respectively.

Road blocked due to snowfall in Himachal

On the other hand, in Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, vehicular movement was disrupted due to hailstorm falling on the road on Friday and office goers faced difficulty in commuting. At least 720 roads, including four national highways, are blocked due to snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, while 2,243 transformers are affected.

According to the data of the State Emergency Operation Centre, maximum 250 roads are closed in Shimla district, followed by 163 in Chamba, 139 in Lahaul and Spiti, 67 in Kullu, 54 in Mandi and 46 in Kinnaur district.

Cold breaks record in Kashmir

A drop in minimum temperature was recorded at many places in Kashmir on Thursday night and in some towns it was the coldest night in the last 16 years. The minimum temperature at Gulmarg ski resort in north Kashmir was recorded at minus 12 degrees Celsius, which is more than four degrees less than the minimum temperature recorded the night before (minus 7.6 degrees Celsius).

Pahalgam tourist resort in South Kashmir recorded a minimum temperature of minus 11.9 degrees Celsius. Private weather forecaster Faizan Arif posted on his ‘X’ account and said, the temperature in Qazigund is the lowest recorded in the last 16 years. The temperature in Qazigund was recorded at minus 9.4 degrees Celsius, which was earlier recorded at minus 12.2 degrees Celsius on February 13, 2008.
