Central Employees Retirement Age: Central employees have been demanding an increase in the retirement age for a long time. The state has also been increasing the retirement age of the employees from time to time. On the other hand, the retirement age for central employees has been fixed at 60 years. At the age of 60, the government employee gets the benefit of retirement.

Meanwhile, while giving a written answer to a question in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister Jitendra Singh has given important information. On the question asked about the change in the retirement age of the central employees, he has clearly said that no proposal to change the retirement age of the employees is currently under consideration before the central government.

Compulsory retirement was given to 122 government officials

In such a situation, it is becoming clear that at present there is no possibility of increase in the retirement age of central employees. They may have to wait a little longer for the increase in retirement age. In a written reply to a question, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that 122 government officials have been compulsorily retired in the last 3 years under various provisions of service rules.

Giving information, he said that according to the information available on the property portal provided by the Aadhaar Control Authority of various Ministries and Departments, against a total of 122 officers during the last 3 years 2020-23, including the provision of provisions similar to the Fundamental Rule FR 56 (J). Case was registered. After which he has been given compulsory retirement.

Recommendation for change in retirement age of High Court and Supreme Court judges 

Before this, a change in the retirement age of the High Court and Supreme Court judges was recommended. Parliamentary committee has recommended performance appraisal system to extend the tenure of Supreme Court and High Court beyond the existing retirement age. At present the Supreme Court judges retire at the age of 65 while the retirement age of 25 High Court judges is 62 years.

Earlier there was a demand for increase in the retirement age of High Court judges. At the same time, a proposal has been prepared by the parliamentary committee to increase the retirement of both the Supreme Court and High Court judges.

The Standing Committee on Law and Personnel presented its report on judicial procedures and their reforms. In which it was said that in the institutions funded by the public exchequer, the Supreme Court and High Court judges can also be re-evaluated to ensure their impartiality in the work done on the emperors of the retirement age.

No proposal to increase retirement age is under consideration

On the other hand, in response to a question in the Lok Sabha, it was clarified by the Union Minister that at present no proposal to increase the retirement age is under consideration. In such a situation, they will not get the benefit of increase in the retirement age of central employees.
