If the fitment increases in the 8th Pay Commission, the basic salary of Level-1 can increase from Rs 18,000 to Rs 51,480. Let us now know about the possible increased basic salary of officers up to Level 10.
8th Pay Commission Salary Hike: The wait for the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission for government employees is now about to end. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has approved this commission, which can potentially increase the salary of lakhs of government employees by up to 108 percent.
This increase will be mainly based on the fitment factor, which is currently 2.57. However, it is estimated that after the 8th Pay Commission it will increase to 2.86. If this happens, then the minimum basic salary of all levels of government employees, from peon to officer, can increase by more than 100 percent.
How is the fitment factor applied?
The fitment factor is an important coefficient (multiplier) that determines the salary hike. In the 7th Pay Commission, this factor was 2.57, due to which the basic salary of level-1 employees increased from Rs 7,000 to Rs 18,000. After adding Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Transport Allowance, the total salary was Rs 36,020. But, if the fitment factor is increased to 2.86 in the 8th Pay Commission, the basic salary of Level-1 can increase from Rs 18,000 to Rs 51,480. When will the 8th Pay Commission be implemented
The main objective of the salary hike under the 8th Pay Commission is to give appropriate salary to the government employees in view of inflation. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has confirmed that this commission will be the eighth pay commission since independence. This commission will submit its report before the term of the previous 7th Pay Commission ends. The 8th Pay Commission will be constituted by the end of this year and its report is expected to be presented by January 2026. Only after this it will be clear how much the salary of government employees will increase. Along with the formation of the commission, the employee unions have demanded to keep the fitment factor at the maximum level.
