These pension schemes are running in the country right now
At present, the government is running two pension schemes for the citizens of the country. One scheme is Atal Pension Yojana. This scheme is for those who are not taxpayers. Through this scheme, you can get a pension of Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 per month in old age. You are given pension according to your contribution. Any person between 18 to 40 years can invest in it.
The other scheme is National Pension Scheme i.e. NPS. Through this scheme, both retirement fund and pension can be arranged. NPS is a market linked scheme i.e. whatever you contribute in it, its return is decided according to the market. You can take 60% of the total amount invested in NPS in lump sum after turning 60 years old i.e. this amount is your retirement fund in a way. While at least 40% of the amount has to be used as annuity. You get pension from this annuity. How much pension you will get depends on your annuity.
This scheme for people working in the unorganized sector
The government runs the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana for people working in the unorganized sector. This scheme provides pension facility. Under this scheme, every laborer can get a pension of up to Rs 3,000. This pension is given on the basis of the contribution of the workers. People between 18 to 40 years whose monthly income is 15,000 or less can avail the benefit of pension through this. House maids, drivers, plumbers, cobblers, tailors, rickshaw pullers, washermen and agricultural laborers can take advantage of this.
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana
A similar scheme is also running for farmers. The name of the scheme is Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana. This scheme was started to provide financial security to small and marginal farmers. Under this scheme, farmers aged between 18 and 40 years have to deposit Rs 55 to Rs 200 every month. This contribution has to be made till the age of 60. From the age of 60, they can get a pension of up to Rs 3,000 every month under this scheme. The amount of pension is decided on the basis of their contribution.
